The Shropshire Celebrant
Marian Woodall · the original Shropshire celebrant
I write and lead ceremonies that sound like the people they are for: weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, funerals and living memorials. Certified with The Celebrant Circle, based in the Ironbridge Gorge.
Certified, and proudly the original
I trained with The Celebrant Circle in late 2024 and carry their CC Certified Celebrant accreditation. I remain a member of their inner circle, which keeps me learning through ongoing training and support.
I am the original Shropshire Celebrant, and I try to be worthy of the name: every ceremony written from scratch, every family given the time they deserve.
I happily conduct ceremonies for the LGBTQ+ community.
Ceremonies
Every one is written with you, for you. Choose where to start.
Weddings
Your story, your words, your way of promising, with a touch of humour where it belongs.
WeddingsVow Renewals
For the years already shared, and the ones still to come.
Vow renewalsNaming Ceremonies
A warm welcome for a new person, surrounded by the people who will love them.
Naming ceremoniesFunerals
A farewell told truthfully and gently, with room for good memories and smiles.
FuneralsLiving Memorials
Make sure your wishes are known. We can write it together.
Living memorialsA different kind of calm
A nurse's steadiness
Before ceremonies, I nursed: coronary care, intensive care, and lastly in a nursing home. I have stood with families on their biggest and hardest days, and it taught me when to speak and when to simply be there.
Empathy first
A ceremony is not a performance, it is people. I listen far more than I talk, then write something that could only belong to you.
And a sense of humour
Warmth matters. Even at a funeral there is room to relive good memories and smiles; at a wedding, laughter is half the point.
Thank you Marian, it was perfect, couldn't thank you enough xx

Whatever you are planning, or facing, the first step is a chat, nothing more. Tell me a little about the ceremony you have in mind and I will come back to you personally.
